Mater`s Pizza & Pasta Emporium in Albertville

It was ok 1st visit the better boy pizza tasted ok.A lot of crust/dough.but it was crispy.for me personally I love burnt cheese.& this pizza had it.the waitress kept us in water refills.but the service wasn't anything outstanding.it wasn't crowded only 3 other groups there.really dark which is nice really.oh yeah by the way they don't allow you to write on the walls anymore.& the prices listed here aren't correct.the better boy pizza cost$25 not $24 as listed.it was ok pizza not great & not bad.I wasn't overwhelmed by it.but in saying that.I wouldn't say I wouldn't try it again.

Not very well maintained. Dirty. Tables not level. Wait staff acted as if they were doing you a favor to serve you. Salad was wilted (not fresh). Priced too high for pasta related items. Nothing exceptional. Do not recommend.

What happened? Years ago I would go here with my family and get a BBQ Pizza it was pulled pork with the sauce mix into the pork there would be more on the pizza it would taste better and was cheaper, did someone take over the place, raise the prices and drop the quality? In short this place has gone way down hill in the past 7 to 8 years.

every bit as good as we remembered... last time was 1985. amazing sauce and loads of toppings. one of the best pizzas anywhere, period.

Best pizza I have ever eaten! Always fresh and service is fantastic! I would highly recommend to any pizza lover. Never had the pasta but I bet is as good as the pizza! Pizza is by far my favorite and worth the drive from Jemison, Al!

Definitely a slow food restaurant. If you change the toppings on your pizza, the toppings you take off DON'T reduce the price of the pizza but you pay extra for any toppings you add. When we got our first pizza, it was VERY wrong! They DID prepare one right for us which was free, but it took another 30 minutes. They have a game room of sorts. A pool table with 3 cues(2 with no tips). All in all, it was a $75.00 plus visit that was NOT very enjoyable.

We were walking and it was hot as always. But the pizza was mmm delicious. The staff were very friendly. And was so hot forgot to leave a tip. Promise next time i won't forget

Maters pizza is an awsome place to eat it's always a pleasant environment

Their pizza is always made to order so it is always fresh. Their gourmet recipe has been a personal favorite and local tradition for many years. You must try the Better Boy 7 and a half pound pizza. 9t is the best tasting and most filling pizza you'll ever find anywhere

This little hole in the wall is by far the best pizza place around. Homemade with a lot of TLC. The draft beer is cold and cheap. This is a must try in Gadsden.

They are the most amazing people. The food is outstanding. LOVE this place!!

Best pizza on the east coast

The better boy pizza and the tossed salad was delish. We will go back there again.

Portion size waay to small for the price. We got spaghetti with meatballs .and lasagna and both were smaller than my hand. The salads were skimpy and my mostly lettuce. The sampler appetizer was ok probably the highlight of the meal very dissapointed for $42.00 expected alot more

The lasagna was pretty good, tho the lunch portion was pretty small. That said, I'll probably return to try more of what they have to offer.

Good pizza large serving sizes so be hungry.

This place is great. I’ve tried 3 of the special pizzas they were all very good. Garlic bread was awesome! Cheese Fries are brick oven cooked and they are awesome! Fresh toppings. Good selection. The Place was clean and orderly. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

Mater's pizza has always made a good Italian Pie. I remember them when just a teenager. Very good pie then and that quality still remains today. If you want a cheap pizza pizza, not here. If you want a quality Italian Pie, yet it will set you back alittle, you can't go wrong. Give them a try, you will not regret.

The best pizza anywhere with friendly service

We have been to this restaurant several times and always had the best waitress and great food.... But this time it was Horrible food and the waitress Alesha was more about gossiping than waiting on her customers....She was so RUDE and Disrespectful.. She loves telling her customers I be with you in a minute then you sit for 10 minutes waiting for her to take your Drink order..... Both Hostess were wonderful..... Well this is our last time going to this restaurant... The wait staff gets worst each time we go... And Lord don't look in the kitchen so many health violations... The cook gets a bag of fries out of the freezer and drops them on the ground and goes on to cook never washes his hands...

This solid pizza and pasta joint has no pretense. The crust here is pretty thick and the use plenty of cheese. Pizza is the way to go here. Vegetarians will do fine here and Vegans will be okay. Wheelchair folks can make it too, but call ahead.

I don’t know where to start really. This place has been open nearly 50 yrs! That should be testimony alone! The food is AMAZING And it hasn’t changed since opening! It taste the same now when I’m 49 as it did when I was 12! The atmosphere is homey, the staff are wonderful and has been working there for very long times! It’s nice to see the same people working every time you go there. It tells me the owners care about their employees! This place is a Icon in Gadsden and a absolute Must Visit place! You won’t be disappointed!

My daughter brought me a salad last night, and it was not made correctly. Gave them a call and informed of my problem. It was late couldn't return it that evening but when they opened the next day they made it right for me. Try the Chef Salad, it is everything you need! Thanks Mater 's for getting my food right.

We always go to Mater's when in Gadsden. The food is great. Service has always been outstanding. Try Mater's, you won't be disappointed.

The first time I ate here was about 8 years ago for lunch, I had the salad bar and shared pizza with my other 2 co-workers. The pizza was dry, and the salad bar was just okay...but they did have homemade ranch dressing. Also the service was good. Then, a couple of months ago, me and my husband took my daughter out for her birthday and the pizza was thick and cheesy, and AMAZING! I don't think they have changed ownership, but it was totally different pizza! And great service. Took one star off for the unclean bathrooms.

Food was nothing special. Atmosphere was quaint. It took a long time to get our food. Waiter was friendly. A small pizza, spaghetti, a beer and soda was just shy of $50 bucks including tip. Pizza hut pasta is better. I haven't tried the pizza yet.

Had better frozen pizza from Dollar General

Went in to have lunch. We arrived before they got crowded. Placed order for a 12” pizza. We sat for 50 minutes watching other customers who came in after us get their food, while being completely ignored by our server. We finally stopped him to ask about our order. He went to kitchen then came oil sat a 12” pizza on our table and said “this isn’t the right pizza they are making you your order now. We told him no thank you we wanted what we ordered and we left.
